One of my favourite hobbies is cross stitch but I often lose it, when the cross stitch cotton elves come and turn it into tangle hahaha

So I've decided, in order to be able to create some more master pieces I'd have to tackle that first.
I've gathered few supplies, plain old wooden pegs, liquid paper correction fluid, permanent pen and clear nail polish.

I used the liquid paper to paint small strip on the top of the peg and let it dry.

Then I used a permanent Sharpie pen to write the code number of the cotton for easy reference, again let dry for few minutes and then use a clear nail polish to paint a protective coating over the whole white section.

Let dry and then wrap your cotton over the bottom part of the peg.
Tadaaaa....

It is now all the fun it should be...
And here are a couple of my finished pieces...

S*p*a*r*k*l*y playdough recipe

                                            ingredients:
                                    2 cups of plain flour
                                         1 cup of salt
                                      2 cups of water
                          2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
1 tablespoon of cream of tartar
                                   some food colouring
                                          some glitter

Get your little helper to throw all the ingredients into a non-stick saucepan,
I find non-stick better because,
you guessed it, the dough doesn't stick!
Mix until all combined.

Put on a medium heat and stir constantly
until it all comes off the sides
and turns into a nice non stick dough.

Take out and  let stand until the dough is completely cool,
then divide into 2 to 6 pieces, depending on
how many colours you'd like to make,
I have divided mine into 2.

Now for the colour, the messy bit. I find that using a syringe (every parent with kids has one in their medicinal cupboard, I'm sure), drop few drops of food colouring into a little well I've made in the centre of the dough, then fold over and knead.
Depending on the desired colour, start with few drops and add more if needed during the kneading.

Continue kneading until you achieve an even colour.
Then sprinkle the sparkles all over the dough
and using the same method of folding and kneading,
integrate the sparkles into the dough.

All the time beware that the little helpers hands may accidentally slip and this may happen! lol

It may look like a lengthy process but it really isn't, it's very simple.

Your kids can be playing with some "made with love" playdough in no time.
This is how William and Charlotte do it in our house!

I have made a few playdoughs in my time and by trial and error came out with my favourite way,
so this is just an idea, see what works best for you.
Enjoy!
