life captured in old photographs

I'm a huge fan of photography, old or new! I have been browsing through some amazing pictures from history and thought I must share these.
I love the atmosphere caught in these shots, all so different in comparison with today's society, hard to imagine the life and hardship that was captured in some of these photos.
Saying that, life was so much slower and more laid back in those days and sometimes I feel almost envious of the simplicity, as today's is life is so fast paced and hectic!
Here's a question, I wonder how many people used to go and see a psychologist due to stress and depression then and how many do now?
Tougher conditions meant tougher people, they were happy with so little, today we require so much to be content.
Could our society survive back in those days?

Its coming up to Easter and there are bunny rabbits everywhere, Charlotte has asked for one too.
So being a wonderful mother I am, hahaha, I have decided on a new project.
Crochet bunny rabbit may sound boring and dull but it looks quite the opposite.
Judge for yourself!

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter, eat some yummy chocolate and spend some lovely time with your family!

Paper mache green & red polkadot crocodile and blue & green stripy snake tutorial

green & red polka dot crocodile and blue & green stripy snake tutorial

beware of the hand eating snake and crocodile!

Few weeks ago on a very very rainy weekend,
kids asked can we and we said we can!
Could we make a hand eating crocodile or a snake?
Of course, but do you realise how long will that take?

So we cut the paper and mixed water with glue,
we paper mached and painted the snake blue,
the green crocodile was looking not so hot
so he ended up with red polka dot!

The kids had a great time, the paint was everywhere
but that's OK, they took it to school for show and share.
Mummy and daddy have decided after
there'll be no more paper mache and paint crafter!

At least for another year!

crochet poppy necklace and crochet headbands

Happy Valentines Day!
I have been very busy past few days branching away from my beaded jewellery a little bit.
I have made this gorgeous three strand necklace with detachable poppy brooch, I was inspired by Marta's (Creativeyarn) gorgeous necklace and this is the result, love the contrast of the red poppy against the dark purple strands.

I have also been doing a bit of researching for my next line of headbands and fell in live with another of Marta's designs, I love the simplicity of it, it looks very chic!

Charlotte loves them, so I made one in her school uniform colours, navy blue!

Navy blue three strand and crocheted flower headband

and there will be no doubt lots more to come, because I just love them!
